Fight victim died of stab wound

A man who was killed in a street fight near Barnsley at the weekend died from a stab wound to the chest, a post-mortem examination has confirmed.

Ian Stewart, 26, was injured during the incident near his home in New Street, Darfield, on Sunday night, said a South Yorkshire Police spokesman.

He was taken to Barnsley hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
