Arson attack at pub investigated

A pub in South Yorkshire has been targeted in an arson attack while the occupants slept upstairs.

The incident happened at the Victoria Hotel in the Heeley area of Sheffield in the early hours of Friday.

Police said a ground floor window was smashed and a bottle containing flammable liquid was set alight and thrown into the pub.

The manager and his wife were unhurt. The fire caused considerable damage. Police are appealing for witnesses.
