City plan 'to create 30,000 jobs'
An economic blueprint to transform the former steel city of Sheffield and provide 30,000 jobs has been unveiled.

Development company Creative Sheffield has launched the plan to create a new business district and a "digital square mile" aimed at creative industries.

Chief executive Ian Bromley said: "This is the most authoritative business plan any UK city has seen."

The group also aims to forge closer links with Leeds and Manchester to help attract businesses to the region.

"Sheffield had the highest level of employment growth of all UK core cities during the 10 years to 2005, with 73,000 new jobs, which shows we have the track record to deliver on our ambitions," Mr Bromley added.
