Spitfire flypast for air academy

The academy will be based in a hangar near the terminal building
A Spitfire flypast has marked the opening of a £10m aviation training academy at Robin Hood Airport.

The facility in South Yorkshire, sited in a converted hangar, will offer courses in aircraft engineering and maintenance and cabin crew training.

It was set up by development agency Yorkshire Forward along with Doncaster and North Nottinghamshire colleges.

Students at the academy will train on board a Boeing 727 aircraft to provide a real life working environment.
