Council to investigate first MD
Doncaster Council
The council appointed Susan law after a global search
Doncaster Council has called a meeting to consider whether it will investigate its own managing director.

A committee will hear evidence relating to Susan Law, who was appointed as the authority's first MD in July 2004 - replacing the role of chief executive.

The council would not give details of the nature of the investigation, saying it was "a staffing matter".

But the Chief Officers Appointments and Conditions of Service Committee usually only meets to consider serious issues.

It will vote on whether to set up a panel, which would then meet immediately to decide if an investigation should go ahead.

Ms Law is the former chief executive at Adelaide City Council in Australia and a strategic management adviser to the city of Cape Town in South Africa.

She was lured to Doncaster when the council posted adverts around the world promising a salary of up to £145,000 a year for the successful candidate.

At the time of her appointment, the town's first elected mayor, Martin Winter, said Ms Law would work closely with him to develop and modernise Doncaster.
