The body of a woman who had been missing from Sheffield for six weeks has been found by police.

Officers found the body of Julie Turner in an oil drum dumped in a field near Chesterfield on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old had not been seen since 7 June. A post-mortem examination found she died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Howard Simmerson, 42, from Cresswell, Derbyshire, was charged with her murder in June and is awaiting trial.

Detectives said Ms Turner had been living in Southall with her two sons, aged nine and 14.
