'Gloomy' city inspires jazz music
Sheffield Peace Gardens
Fans of the city say it is a modern, vibrant place
An MEP has defended Sheffield after a jazz musician said its gloominess had inspired him to write music.

Finn Jimi Tenor lived in Sheffield eight years ago. He told a magazine the city gave him the inspiration to make the record that gave him his big break.

He said Sheffield was always cloudy and grey and was a great place to make music as there was nothing else to do.

MEP Linda Macavan told the paper that far from being gloomy, Sheffield was a "dynamic, exciting and modern city".
