'Move cars' appeal to residents
A 100-day campaign is being launched to make Barnsley a cleaner place.

The "Suck, Sweep 'n' Polish" project begins on Wednesday and involves cleaning gullies, carriageways and pavements all over the borough.

Streets to be targeted are those where cars are constantly parked, making normal cleaning difficult.

Letters will be sent to residents whose street is about to be cleaned asking them to move vehicles while the cleaning team is in action.

Councillor Roy Miller said: "We all know how much detritus can amass at the roadside and I'm sure most people are aware this is because parked vehicles prevent it being cleaned properly.

"People simply moving their vehicles when asked to do so will contribute greatly to our overall goal of making the borough cleaner."
