Missing man's 'forgive me' note
The Strines
The crash happened in a remote area of The Strines moorland
A man who disappeared after crashing his car at a remote moorland spot near Sheffield had left a note asking for forgiveness, police have revealed.

Paul Heywood's empty vehicle was found embedded in a dry stone wall in Bolsterstone at 0200 GMT on 21 March.

But the 48-year-old, from Stannington, was nowhere to be seen and police launched a search of the moorland area.

Officers later searched his home and found the note which says: "Please forgive me. It's for me. Sorry."

Relatives have been unable to explain his disappearance and do not believe he has any financial difficulties.

A search for the website developer is continuing, including volunteers from the mountain rescue service.

South Yorkshire Police are also planning to bring in the force helicopter and dogs.
