Thousands of potholes filled in Somerset

A total of 4,610 potholes have been filled in Somerset since severe weather hit the county at the beginning of January.

Motorists are being urged to drive carefully to avoid damage to their vehicle while repairs continue.

Councillor Anthony Trollope-Bellew said: "Our highways teams are working extremely hard to put this right."

He said an extra £500,000 would be ploughed into maintaining the roads from April, to cope with the problem.
