Andy Jones said all the bids were from people who knew him

A man from Somerset who was unemployed for six months has found a job after auctioning himself on an internet site. Andy Jones, 55, from Wells, had been a communications consultant but when he could not find work he resorted to advertising himself on eBay. The auction closed on Sunday with a closing bid of £7.50 per month but Mr Jones was also spotted by an old acquaintance who offered him work. His new job is to set up an event in Coventry on sustainable development. Mr Jones said: "Because I had done this it gave me an opportunity to send round e-mails to everyone I knew saying that I am auctioning myself on eBay. "All sorts of people from my past came crawling out of the woodwork. All those who bid for me were actually people who knew me. "The good news is that one of the guys who contacted me has offered me a job. The moral of the story is that if you think you have left one stone unturned then you almost certainly have not. "It is about network, network, network - so keep in contact with your old business contacts."
