Woman killed in A-road accident

A woman who was reported to be walking along an A-road in rural Somerset has died after being hit by a car.

The unnamed woman, believed to be in her 20s, was walking along the A358 at the village of Sampford Brett, near Bridgwater on Sunday.

Police were called at about 2030 GMT, and the woman was rushed to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, where she later died.

Avon and Somerset police have made an appeal for information.
