Pool to be shut by end of month

Sedgemoor Splash
The site of the swimming pool is to be sold off to raise capital for the council

The date for the closure of Sedgemoor Splash swimming pool in Bridgwater has been confirmed as 30 August.

The decision was taken by a committee at Sedgemoor District Council on Tuesday evening.

The council had agreed not to close the pool until a new one had been built, but has since run out of money.

The closure leaves Bridgwater without any public swimming facilities, as the new pool is not scheduled to be built until 2012.
