The building has been damaged but is not thought to be at risk of collapsing

An industrial laundry in Somerset has been severely damaged by fire.

Eight fire engines and fire fighters with breathing apparatus were called to the Paragon laundry on Taunton Road in Bridgwater at about 0300 BST on Friday.

Crews from Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service say the building was empty and no staff were inside the premises at the time.

The A38, which was closed near Hamp bridge while fire investigators checked the scene, has now been reopened.
