Woman dies in motorway accident

The accident happened just to the north of the Sedgemoor services

A woman died and a man was critically injured when their car left the M5 in Somerset and burst into flames.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the southbound carriageway between junction 21 and 22 at 1630 BST on Saturday.

Police said a woman from the London area died in the collision, while a man, 19, from Wiltshire, rescued from the car was taken to Frenchay Hospital.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact collision investigators.
