Bishop completes 330-mile walk

Bishop of Bath and Wells
The Bishop walked 330 miles in two months around his diocese

The Bishop of Bath and Wells has completed a 330-mile walk around Somerset to celebrate 1,100 years of the establishment of the diocese.

The Right Reverend Peter Price began his pilgrimage, called "Peter's Progress" in May, walking the diocesan boundary - Butleigh to Glastonbury.

He finished the walk on Saturday at Glastonbury Abbey where a special pageant was held.

All 570 churches in the diocese were invited to join in the celebrations.

The walk was carried out in several stages over 33 days across two months so that he could fit in his work and personal commitments.

The diocese of Bath and Wells was formed in 909 AD and now has 570 churches organised in 490 parishes serving a total of 830,000 people.
