Valuable violin taken from show

The violin was taken from The Egg theatre in St John's Place, Bath

A violin valued at £5,000 has been stolen from its case while its owner was performing at a theatre in Bath.

Police believe the antique Stradivarius copy may turn up at a car boot sale or an internet auction site.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the violin was is of an unusual light colour with distinctive "tiger" markings on the back.

Anyone who was at The Egg theatre in Bath on 6 June or is offered it for sale has been asked to contact police.
