Cantona helps raise cash for club

Eric Cantona
Tickets for the screening have already sold out

Footballing legend Eric Cantona visited Bath for a screening of his latest film in the city.

The former Manchester United and France player was joined by Ken Loach, the director of Looking for Eric.

Looking for Eric tells the story of a postman called Eric who turns to his hero Cantona for inspiration.

The duo then took part in a question and answer session to raise funds for Bath City Football Club, of which Mr Loach is a keen supporter.

The Frenchman, famous for his enigmatic character as well as his football, plays himself in the film.

"It was a new experience for me. I've played other characters in the past but this one was very special experience for me," Cantona said.

Tickets for the film and the question and answer session, hosted by BBC Radio Bristol's Geoff Twentyman at the Little Theatre sold out prior to Saturday's event.

Looking for Eric is released on 12 June.
