Hundreds of supporters have lined the streets of a Somerset town for the homecoming parade of the Commando Helicopter Force.

Around 80 service personnel marched through Wincanton on a day of thanksgiving and remembrance for those recently killed in Afghanistan.

The day started with a service of thanksgiving in the parish church before the parade through the town.

"It was our way of saying a big thank you," said a British Legion spokesman.

Capt Jon Pentreath, Commanding Officer of the commandoes added: "It really has been a day of pride.

"The guys' hearts are bursting with pride and emotion. The clapping from the citizens of Wincanton really makes us feel wanted and that we're doing a worthwhile job."

The Commando Helicopter Force is based at nearby RNAS Yeovilton.
