Refit for town's police station

A police station in a Somerset town has reopened after a seven-month closure for refurbishment.

The new station at Chard includes a new custody suite which would save officers having to travel to Yeovil to interview suspects, a police spokesman said.

Sergeant Andy Lloyd added: "We are pleased to be back at the station at Millfield, and are looking forward to making use of the new facilities.

"They will improve efficiency benefiting both us and the community."
