Police name driver who hit tree

Police have released the name of a man who died when his car crashed into a tree at the weekend in Somerset.

Samuel Norris, 28, was on the A361 on Sunday between Shepton Mallet and Pilton when his car left the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff. A woman and child who were passengers in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An appeal has been made for anyone who may have seen what happened to contact the police.
