Tributes have been paid to a Somerset boy who was killed by a car as he waited for his school bus.

Elliot Davies, 13, suffered serious head injuries in the accident near his home in Wedmore on Wednesday morning.

He was airlifted to the Royal United Hospital in Bath where he died a few hours later.

A spokesman for Kings of Wessex School where he was a pupil said: "He was a lovely boy, who was kind, friendly and polite."

Elliot had just started in year nine at the school.

He had been waiting for a bus by the B3151 in Wedmore when he was struck by a Citroen Saxo car travelling towards Glastonbury.

A special assembly was held for him at school on Wednesday afternoon.

"He was well respected by his peers and staff alike," the school spokesman said.

"Elliot was enthusiastic about school and life and always gave his best.

"He was particularly keen on football.

"The school held an assembly yesterday afternoon with his year group, where prayers were said for Elliot and his family.

"The school is providing support and comfort for those students who are most affected by his tragic loss.

"The school's thoughts and prayers are with Elliot's mum and older brother Liam, and the rest of his family at this sad and tragic time."
