'Wedding will go on' despite fire

Remains of the home
Two dogs belonging to the couple died in the blaze

A couple from Somerset are determined their big day will go ahead later this month despite a fire which destroyed their beachside home.

Ron Sharrard and Angie Davies lost everything except the clothes they were wearing after the blaze on 23 November.

Neighbours have given the pair a temporary home and offers of clothes, furniture and cash are rolling in.

An event on Saturday at a nearby pub hopes to raise enough cash to send them on honeymoon.

Danny Pearce, landlord of The Railway public house in Burnham-on-Sea hoped people would support the event.

"I hope everyone will rally round and donate what they can. At least make some good come out of a very very bad situation."

Two dogs belonging to the couple also perished in the fire.

Mr Sharrad said: "This was our world and it has been taken away. The wedding will go on - it's the only thing we've got to look forward to now."

It took just minutes for the flames to take hold and tear through the wooden chalet home - an electrical fault is the most likely cause.

The couple are due to marry on 22 December.
