Somerset's smallest school is likely close next year after the county council's executive board voted to press ahead with its proposed closure.
In October there were only 16 pupils on the roll at Blagdon Hill school near Taunton, with 44 places unfilled.
The school is now set to close at the end of the academic year with the remaining children being sent to three other local schools.
The decision must still go before the Schools Organisation Advisory Panel.
Catchment area
All pupils who live within the current catchment area for Blagdon Hill, and live more than the statutory walking distance to either Trull or Churchstanton Primary schools, would be provided with subsidised transport to school until the child completes their primary education.
"Small schools across the country are facing serious challenges and it is important that we consider their long term viability," said councillor Gloria Cawood.
"As the Local Authority, Somerset County Council is committed to making sure its small schools are sustainable for the future and providing the standard of education that children deserve and their parents demand."
The catchment areas of Thurlbear Church of England Primary School, Trull Church of England and Churchstanton Community Primary School would be realigned to take into account the closure of Blagdon Hill Primary School.
