Virus outbreak at animal centre

A rescue centre for cats and dogs in Bath has been closed after an outbreak of a lethal canine virus.

The disease parvovirus has killed one animal and left other dogs seriously ill at Bath Cats & Dogs Home.

Staff at the centre are keeping the animals isolated from the public, and everyone must walk through footbaths to prevent cross-contamination.

It is thought that the disease was brought into the rescue centre by a group of puppies.
