The existing record of 3,648 was beaten by 58 people.

More than 3,700 people have helped break a world record for the biggest pillow fight, at a Children in Need event in Minehead, Somerset.

The previous record was beaten by 58 people, with 3,706 people all fighting at once, a spokesman for the Guinness Book of Records said.

The extravaganza was fronted by BBC Points West presenters Chris Vacher and Alex Lovell at Butlins holiday resort.

At 2100 GMT, more than 300,000 had been raised by the BBC in the West.

Guinness Book of Records adjudicator Craig Glenday said it was a difficult record to beat.

"We had people in the audience to check everyone was fighting and every pillow was in use."
