Elderly woman attacked in house

An 83-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries after she was found in her Somerset home.

Police believe Kathleen Hutchins may have been a victim of a burglary at her home in the Holway area of Taunton.

Ms Hutchins was being treated for a fractured cheekbone, broken arm and extensive bruising to the face, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said.

"Police have been continuing with house-to-house enquiries in the area today," the spokesman said.
