Town remembers fatal air crash

A Somerset town is remembering the 40th anniversary of a plane crash.

In October 1968 a a Canberra jet crashed in Crewkerne, killing the pilot and a local worker.

The aircraft landed next to a petrol filling station at Vinney Bridge, causing a series of explosions, and serious injuries to the garage owner.

Ron Meecham, now 87, spent eight weeks in Frenchay Hospital near Bristol where he underwent several skin grafts before finally returning to work.
