Man held over newsagent's robbery

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man after an armed robbery at a newsagent's in Weston-super-Mare.

Two men threatened the owner of Whitecross News and Gifts on Whitecross Road with a hammer and a machete on 1 October.

They made off with cash and cigarettes. The arrested man is currently helping officers with inquiries.

Avon and Somerset Police are looking for a robber who is white, and was wearing a dark waterproof-style jacket.
