People in the Weston area of Bath are being invited to a flood awareness clinic where they can get the latest advice on local flooding dangers.
Flood mapping information will be available and details on how people can receive flood warnings direct to their homes and mobile phones.
The council will talk about the current work to prevent flooding and advise on products available to protect property.
The event has been organised by the council and the Environment Agency.
Councillor Malcolm Hanney, of Bath and North East Somerset council, said: "Changes in weather patterns over recent years have led to an increase in extreme weather events such as those experienced in Bath in January this year, when Weston was particularly affected.
"This event follows on from a number of flood awareness days held in Bath in March."
The flood awareness clinic will take place on 15 October at Centre 69 on Pen Hill Road in Bath between 1300 and 1900 BST.
