Cyclist dies in main road crash

A cyclist was killed when he was struck by a car on the A38 in Somerset.

The accident on the Bridgwater Road between Walford Cross and Monkton Elm happened on Thursday.

Avon and Somerset Police have not released further details about the man but said he was between 40 and 50 years old.

Police appealed for witnesses to come forward and said the accident happened at about 1745 BST while the cyclist was riding towards Taunton.
