Man absconded from secure unit

Paul John Davies

A man who is detained under the Mental Health Act has absconded from his carers while on a shopping trip to Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset.

Paul Davies, who was detained at a secure unit in the area following a conviction for a serious assault, absconded at 1430 BST on Thursday.

The 26-year-old suffers from several medical conditions as well as mental health problems.

Police think he may be in the Weston or Pembrokeshire areas.

The Avon and Somerset force has liaised with colleagues at Dyfed-Powys Police.

Mr Davies has strong links with Pembrokeshire.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts or who might have seen him recently is asked to contact Weston Police Station on 0845 456 7000.
