Cyclist badly hurt in collision

A cyclist is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a road accident in Somerset.

He was in collision with a Ford Escort car at Velvet Bottom in Charterhouse on Thursday night.

The cyclist suffered multiple injuries and was flown to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where he is said to be in a critical condition.

Police closed the road while collision investigators carried out an examination of the crash scene.
