Safety improvements for busy road

Improvements in road safety on a stretch of the busy A37 in Bath and North East Somerset are being planned.

The move comes after a council survey revealed almost 18,000 vehicles a day were using the road near Whitchurch.

Traffic engineers are due to meet with police and Publow and Pensford Parish Council to discuss how safety on Pensford Hill could be improved.

Additional road safety measures have already been put in place between Whitchurch and Pensford.

These include improving street lighting in Pensford, flashing school warning signs near Whitchurch and Pensford primary schools and a vehicle speed-operated 30mph sign at the top of Pensford Hill travelling south.
