Police pleased over taxi checks

Police in Taunton have carried out stop checks on taxis in the area.

Only two of 26 cabs pulled over were defective. The vehicles were ordered off the road until they are fixed.

Acting Sgt Tony Foster said: "It was reassuring to see that the condition of taxis in the area is of such a high standard.

"Operators understand how serious we are about enforcing the regulations around taxis and they are ensuring vehicles are roadworthy."
