Man charged over resort assault

A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault which left another man critically ill in hospital.

Police were called to the incident, at a property in Walliscote Grove Road in Weston-super-Mare, on Tuesday night.

The injured man, 46, was treated at the town's hospital, then transferred to Frenchay hospital in Bristol, where his condition is described as critical.

The man who was arrested has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent to endanger life.
