Services remember dead teenager

Two services of remembrance have been held in memory of Somerset teenager Lizzie Pincock, one of five people to die in a crash in Ecuador.

Lizzie, 19, was killed when the bus she was travelling in collided with a lorry. Some 14 others were injured.

The services were held at Taunton School on Tuesday evening, where the ex-prefect had been a popular student.

The school said the services would give students and friends an opportunity to pay their respects.

Those injured in the crash, including Nicola Cox from Bradley Stoke near Bristol, are due home on Wednesday.

Gap-year students Indira Swann, 18, of Berkshire, Ms Pincock, Rebecca Logie, 19, of Lancashire, and Emily Sadler, 19, of Hertfordshire, all died in the crash on Saturday.

Travel company guide Sarah Howard, 26, from Cheshire, was also killed.

The group was more than a fortnight into a 15-week Inca and Amazon trip involving language tuition and volunteer projects, when the crash, thought to be a "tragic accident", happened.

Lizzie's mother Jill told BBC News: "She had the kind of verve and vigour and enthusiasm for life that was extremely contagious.

"She always put in 120% to every task that she undertook and packed more into her 19 years than most of us will in a lifetime."
