The search for an angler washed into the sea in North Somerset has been called off for the night.
Emergency services searched the Bristol Channel near Weston-super-Mare after being alerted by two members of the public on Thursday.
An air and sea search failed to find him and it is now feared he may not have survived. A limited search will resume at first light on Saturday.
The reports coincide with reports of a Weston man in his 20s going missing.
Coastguards from Clevedon and Weston searched the shore while two lifeboats and two helicopters were also involved.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said it was believed the man was fishing off the causeway at Birnbeck, North Somerset.
