Lost man prompts channel search
The search for a fisherman washed into the sea near Weston-super-Mare was called off on Thursday evening to resume at first light on Friday.

It is thought he was washed off from a causeway into the Bristol Channel at Birnbeck, North Somerset, on Thursday.

The coastguard and emergency services was alerted by two 999 calls from separate members of the public.

Coastguards searched from the shore while two lifeboats and a helicopter from RAF Chivenor were also involved.
