Developers behind a £30m project to regenerate Weston-super-Mare's Tropicana have modified their plans after public consultation.
Latest plans for the former open-air pool sees the proposed building's height trimmed from six to four floors - a reduction of 10m (32.8ft).
Last November, 55,000 homes in the seaside town were sent details of plans and invited to a series of exhibitions.
Around 1,000 people attended with nearly 400 questionnaires returned.
'Planning application'
Developers Henry Boot said "substantial changes" had been made to the plans which reflected residents' opinions.
The reduction in height has been achieved by relocating the hotel to the centre of the building and reducing some of the individual floor heights inside the complex.
A car park on the beach next to the complex has also been scrapped.
The Tropicana on Weston's seafront has been derelict for years

North Somerset Council, landowner of the site, now has to approve the variations before Henry Boot can submit its planning application later this month.
Councillor Elfan Ap Rees said: "I am very pleased Henry Boot has listened to local residents.
"I am hopeful that, following the long wait we have had, the redevelopment of this site will soon become reality."
