Man jailed over New Year's death
Karl Eastwood
Eastwood was given an indeterminate sentence
A man has been jailed in connection with the death of a man in Bath almost a year ago.

Paul Kelly, 32, was stabbed to death outside the Longacre Tavern in the city on New Year's Eve 2006.

Karl Eastwood, 21, of no fixed abode, admitted at Bristol Crown Court to kicking Mr Kelly in the head and causing grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutors agreed he played no part in the stabbing. He will serve at least two years in jail.

Mr Justice Butterfield told him: "You are a dangerous young man. Violence is a pattern in your behaviour."

Eastwood was given an indeterminate sentence.

Alison Kelly, Paul's mother, said: "I'm glad he got what he got. He deserved what he got."

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with Mr Kelly's murder.
