Cider boost secures top award win
A link-up between a Somerset cider maker and an outdoor swimming pool has won Property of the Year 2007 at the national Leisure Report awards.

Brothers Drinks of Shepton Mallet provides heat produced when the factory chills its drinks for the town's lido through a system of pipes.

The lido is able to get 40% of its heat this way.

Jonathan Showering co-founder of Brothers Drinks said: "I'm so proud to be part of an award-winning link-up."

During the first week of using the new system the water temperature was raised from 14 to 27 centigrade.

The project is the latest part of a £500,000 make-over of Shepton's Lido which has already seen the installation of a new children's play area, green area and a revamp of the changing rooms and pool.
