Council criticises developments
Redevelopment proposals for Wells in Somerset have raised serious concerns with the district council, which said more work was needed.

Developers Centros Miller want to redesign the Princes Road area, including building a new shopping area.

But Mendip District Council said some aspects of the development, including its size and layout, raised concerns.

Centros Miller's development manager, Tony Williams, said the company welcomed the feedback.

"The council's comments broadly coincide with the main issues raised in our recent round of consultation with local interest groups and members of the public.

"Having now taken all of this feedback on board, we are currently working on changes to our plans and we expect to publish our revised plans later this month," he added.

Lucille Ainsworth, council project officer, said: "From a technical point of view the council supports in principle a comprehensive approach to mixed use redevelopment in the Princes Road area."

No planning application has yet been submitted.
