Students claim new Smurf record
University of Bath students dressed as Smurfs
All the money raised went to the Rag charity
Students at the University of Bath claim to have beaten the world record for the most number of people dressed as Smurfs in one room.

The attempt was made on Saturday by the Students' Union to mark the end of Freshers' Week, but has yet to be verified.

More than 1,120 students attended wearing a white hat, blue T-shirt, white trousers and blue body paint.

The record of 451 students is currently held by Warwick University.

Event organiser Scott Fisher, 20, said: "We have to get our picture and video evidence together and submit it now.

"We did raise some money towards the charity Rag, but it was more an event to help new freshers."
