Woman's horror after snake find
A Somerset woman has spoken of the moment she woke to find a three-foot-long corn snake asleep on her partner Olly's back.

Claire Fell, 28, from Ilchester leapt screaming from bed before calling the RSPCA, who cornered the reptile in her one-year-old son's bedroom.

Then weeks later, Ms Fell - who is terrified of snakes - discovered another climbing her stairs.

It later emerged the harmless snakes belonged to a previous neighbour.

She said: "After seeing it the first time, on Olly's back, I screamed for my life, in hysterics.

"I hate snakes and it was like a horror film.

"We called the RSPCA who told us to try and coax it into a pillow case, but we could not find it.

"When help arrived we searched the house and finally found the snake sitting in our son's toy box.

The second snake appeared seven weeks later.

The couple put up a poster with a photograph of it at their local garage.

Eventually the snake's owner, who used to live two doors away, rang to say they were his - and that he had lost them last Christmas.
