Lord Coe opens new sports centre

Lord Coe helped bring the 2012 Olympic games to London
A new £1m sport science laboratory and conference centre has been officially opened at the University of Bath.

Former athlete and Olympic organising committee chairman Sebastian Coe opened the centre on Wednesday.

It will be used to study how the human body moves, with the aim of improving performance and limiting injuries.

"I know how important that extra hundredth of a second can be and the facilities here will enable athletes to develop their technique," he said.

Professor George Lunt, deputy vice-chancellor at the University, said: "This centre provides greatly improved facilities for our staff in Sport & Exercise Science.

"What is particularly important is that it locates some of their excellent research within the environment of our world class Sports Training Village."
