Future of nature trail reviewed
The future of a popular Somerset nature trail is to be decided after external funding came to an end.

South Somerset District Council granted £4,000 towards work on reviewing the future of the River Parrett Trail through the county.

The trail allows walkers to follow the river from source to mouth for more than 50 miles along public footpaths.

Studies and surveys of the trail's users will be carried out over the summer, ready for a report in autumn.

The trail starts at Chedington, passes through Langport and Bridgewater, and ends at the River Parrett Estuary.

Councillor Patrick Palmer said: "With its combinations of heritage, geology and riverside artwork, the trail is unique."
