Teenager plans channel expedition
Gary Carpenter
Gary will make his attempt over the Bank Holiday
A teenager is hoping to raise £50,000 for charity by swimming the Bristol Channel.

Gary Carpenter, 16, from Clevedon, wants to raise the money for the Children's Hospice South West.

He will undertake the 15 to 18 mile (24 to 30 km) swim over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

"I don't get nervous, it is just another swim to do. It is between 15 and 18 miles as the tides will take me in all directions."

The Bristol Channel is the stretch of water between Wales and the West Country.
