Sand sculptures 'nearly finished'
A sand sculpture

Artists from all over the world have been creating sand sculptures on a beach in Somerset.

Nine artists, including an Italian and two Dutchmen, have created four giant shapes at a cost of £35,000 on the Beach Lawns in Weston-super-Mare.

The pieces depict scenes from four fairy tales: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella.

The sculptures will be open to the paying public from Saturday.

Last year, a sand sculpture of King Kong was wrecked by vandals.

Security at the beach has been stepped up as a result.
