Exhumed body finally laid to rest

Fred Green
Widower Fred Green died in January 2006, aged 81

A man's body, exhumed as part of an inquiry into seven suspicious deaths at a care home, has been re-buried.

Fred Green had been a resident at Parkfields home in Butleigh, near Glastonbury, which was closed in March.

Det Insp Ben Batley, of Avon and Somerset Police, said the exhumation and reburial had gone to plan.

"I'd like to thank local people and Mr Green's family for their patience and understanding at what has been a very difficult time for all," he added.

It is not expected that there will be any further exhumations as part of the inquiry.

In total three bodies were removed for forensic post-mortem examinations.

Last month the bodies of Nellie Mary Pickford, 89, and Marion Alder, 79, were exhumed.
